Chocolate Pretzel Cereal Squares Recipe

The beauty of this recipe: freestyle however you'd like! Use your fave cereal and mix-ins, or whatever you have in the pantry. This simple yet satisfying recipe requires no baking, and is the perfect (kid friendly!) activity if you want a dessert fix, without the fuss.

  • The marshmallows will balloon up in a hilarious way when you microwave them, so make sure you use an oversized bowl.
  • Swap the cereal for whatever you love most (or conveniently whatever you’ve got in the cupboard)!

Chocolate Pretzel Cereal Squares

Chocolate Pretzel Cereal Squares

Spray your baking pan with baking spray. Sprinkle the cup of chocolate chips and pretzels into the bottom of the pan, spreading to make an even layer.

In a very large, microwave safe bowl, melt the butter and bag of marshmallows together for 2 minutes. Remove from the microwave and stir, then microwave for 1 more minute. Stir until smooth.

Cereal time!

Add the Rice Krispies to the marshmallow mixture and stir with a spatula until every bit is coated.

Stir the dulce de leche sauce into the melted marshmallows.

Scrape the mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly with a greased spatula or with the butter paper (my grandma taught me this!). Let cool until firm, 15 to 20 minutes, then cut into 3 rows of 5 squares to make 15 treats total. Store in an airtight container on your counter for up to 5 days.
