Bake Club Buns

Makes 8 hot dog buns, 8 burger buns, 12 slider buns etc

1 pkg. active dry yeast

1 cup very warm tap water

¼ cup sugar

¼ cup oil+ extra for greasing bowl, an and brushing on top

¾ teaspoon salt

2 ½ -3 cups flour

1 egg

Sesame seeds for topping, optional

In a large bowl, wisk yeast and warm water together until foamy and completely dissolved.

Whisk in sugar, oil and salt. Mix in 2 ½ cups flour until you have a dough ball that’s neither sticky nor stiff- but glossy and soft. (Everyone’s kitchen humidity level is different. Add a little flour at a time up to 3 cups if it’s way too sticky. Err on the side of slightly stick rather than slightly dry and tough.)

Knead dough ball for 7 minutes. Place in an oiled bowl, and turn dough to coat. Cover with a damp cloth and place in a microwave not in use for 1 hour to double in size.

Heat the oven to 350F and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

Knock dough out of the bowl and onto a clean counter to deflate then cut into 8 pieces depending on your bun vision. Roll into desired shape.

Place shapes, seam side down 3-4 inches apart from one another on a greased line pan and cover with same damp cloth for 30 minutes, until dough has spread and slacked.

Egg wash for gloss and adorn with sesame seeds if that’s your thing.

Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Cool at room temperature before the bbq begins!
