Starting on low speed, use a mixer to combine the butter and sugar, 1 minute. Increase the mixer to medium speed and whip until super smooth, about 3 minutes. Turn off the mixer. Use your spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl well.

Add the milk, vanilla, and salt and mix until combined and fluffy, about 1 minute.
