q: i need something today or tomorrow, how can i place a last minute order?

a: when you make a reservation with 3 days advance notice we are producing goodies especially for you. if you need to pick something up on shorter notice, we are happy to help put something together from our standard stock, though the selection of flavors and sizes may be limited.

if you need something today please come on by to one of our stores, we are always well stocked in cookies, truffles and pies, and keep a limited selection of 6″ cakes on hand at all times. you can also contact our customer service team for assistance setting up a last minute order. please note that requests are responded to in the order they are received.

q: do you make larger cakes for special order?

a: we sell 6″ cakes in our bakery that feed 8-12. if you are looking for something bigger, we carry 10″, 14″ and 18″x26″ sheet cakes for special order. click here for more information about party cakes.

q: are bulk orders available?

a: we are happy to put together bulk orders of cookies, cake truffles, whole pies, and pie slices. we request at least one week advance notice for large orders. all bulk orders must be picked up from our williamsburg bakery location. contact our customer service team to talk about a bulk order.

q: do i need an account to place my pick-up order online?

a: while you don’t need an account, we do suggest creating one so that you will be able to view your order history and automatically request cancellation up to 2 days in advance.

q: i never received my confirmation e-mail. what should i do?

a: check your junk, spam, or bulk e-mail filters and make sure that you registered with the correct email address. if you can’t find it, get in touch and we will look into the problem.

q: when do i pay for my order?

a: online orders are paid for in full through our online system. orders are not processed until payment has been completed.

q: where do i enter my payment information?

a: when you checkout, you will be taken to our secure payment processing page where you will enter all of your information.

q: i am trying to place an order, but can’t enter my credit card information.

a: please try clearing your cache and/or using a different browser. we recommend google chrome, safari, firefox or a mobile ios browser.

if you are trying to place an order with an international credit card: please get in touch via email and someone will help process the order.

If you have tried these things and are having no luck, please get in touch and we will process your order manually via a secure online invoice.

q: why are only whole pies, cakes, and cookie dozens available for pick up online?

a: our online ordering system is designed for larger-scale to-go orders. single slices of pies and orders of less than six cookies are always available for pickup at milk bar. all other goods are based on in-store availability only.

q: can i change the items in my order, or change the pick up day and/or location?

a: no. once an order is placed it cannot be changed. if you must alter your order please cancel the order by going to “my account” at least 2 days before your pick up day. once your original order has been cancelled you can place a new order with the correct information. If you have not created an account, or you submitted payment via paypal, please contact us directly to cancel your order.

q: what if i need to cancel my order? do you allow returns?

a: you may cancel your order by going to “my account” at least 2 days before your pick up day and selecting the cancellation link. cancellations are only allowed more than 2 days before the scheduled pick-up time. returns and/or exchanges are not allowed for baked goods ordered online unless the reason for return relates to a defect in production or packaging.

q: can someone else pick up my order?

a: yes, but they must have a printed copy of your order confirmation e-mail.

q: what if i am running late for my pickup? what if i want to pick up my order a few hours early?

a: orders can be picked up any time on the date of your reservation from the opening to closing times of the store.

q: can i add a message on my cake?

a: yes. when adding a cake to your order you can add script by clicking on the image of the cake to get to the expanded description and options. there is a 35 character maximum for 6″ cakes.

q: can i add a message on my pie?

a: no. sorry, but we do not offer writing on pies.

Delivery Orders
q: do you offer local delivery in nyc? in washington, dc?

a: yes, our special orders team can arrange a delivery via courier for any order going to a location in manhattan, brooklyn or washington dc. our courier’s delivery fees start at $35 and are calculated based on the size of your order and distance of your location from our kitchen. deliveries are made within a 3 hour delivery window 7 days a week, 9am – 6pm.

we also offer shipping via UPS within NYC for a more economical option, though we cannot guarantee a delivery time for shipped packages.

q: can i get take out delivery from one of your nyc or dc stores (shakes, soft serve, breads and buns)?

a: yes! for same day local delivery in nyc you can find milk bar through these services:

q: do you deliver outside of NYC or DC?

a: yes! we ship throughout the USA. Please place your order online through our shipping website.
Unfortunately our Toronto store does not currently offer a local delivery service, but pick up orders can be placed here.

Shipping Orders
we ship our products nationwide through our online store and internationally through our international fulfillment team. Orders placed through our online store are shipping monday-thursday for arrival tuesday-friday (time in transit varies). You can select an arrival date up to 1 month in advance. We recommend always scheduling your package to arrive at least 1 day early if you are planning a time sensitive event to account for any transit delays.

q: when will my order ship?

a: orders are processed monday-thursday and shipped in time to arrive based on your selected arrival date.
during certain holiday weeks your shipping options may be limited to 1 day or 2 day air transit speeds if our carrier, UPS, cannot guarantee a suitable time in transit using GROUND service.

q: once it ships, how long will it take for my order to arrive?

a: after you have received your tracking # you can typically expect your package to arrive within 1-3 days.
next day air: within 1 business day
2nd day air: within 2 business days
ground: in NY, ground takes 1 business day. Outside of NY, 1-3 business days.

q: my order didn’t arrive on time!

a: once a package ships from our kitchen, we are not responsible for delays in transit caused by high package volume, weather, mechanical error, strikes, natural disasters, terrorism safety control, inaccurate shipping information, or the drop off policy of our carriers. we do not require a signature for delivery on any order.

q: can i add a gift message to my order?

a: yes. during checkout you will have the option of including a gift message with your order.

q: why is overnight the only option for shipping a pie, or cake, or cake tasting?

a: these items are time and temperature sensitive, so overnight shipping is the only option we offer. if there’s a pie, cake, or cake tasting in your shopping cart, we’ll overnight everything in your order so everything arrives at the same time.

q: can i cancel or change my order?

a: cancellations and changes will be accepted until a UPS label has been created for your order (within 24 hours of the expected shipping date.)

q: do you offer returns/refunds?

a: no. we do not offer returns or refunds on any orders unless there was an error in our manufacturing, packaging or handling of your order.

q: What about international shipping?

a: we currently offer shipping of a limited selection of items to our canadian customers. at this time we are unable to provide economical fast shipping of our food products to our customers outside of the us and canada for small orders. If you are interested in a large bulk order, please contact us to inquire about your options.

q: i am trying to place an order, but can’t enter my credit card information.
a: please try clearing your cache and/or using a different browser. we see this problem occasionally from people who are using internet explorer to access the website, and strongly recommend switching to firefox, safari, or google chrome to place your order if you experience this problem.

q: how do i order a wedding cake?


a: please fill out the the wedding department’s contact form and one of our wedding cake coordinators will respond to you with instructions on how to proceed.

q: how early in advance can i order a wedding cake?

a: we require a minimum of one month notice, and will accept orders up to 6 months in advance. during our busy season (may-october) we ask for 3-6 months notice to ensure we can fit you onto our schedule.

q: what is the latest i can place an order for a wedding cake?

a: we require at least one month advance notice for wedding cake orders. we suggest putting your order in 2-3 months in advance since we fill up very quickly during the busy months (may-october).

q: what are your wedding cake sizes?

a: small three tier cake (10″,6″,4″): $400* (serves 60)
large three tier cake (14″,10″,6″): $700* (serves 120)
four tier cake (14″,10″,6″,4″): $750* (serves 140)
six tier cake (14″,12″,10″,8″,6″,4″) $1,200* (serves 210)
additional 10″, 14″, and 18”x26” sheet cakes are available for cutting.
* cost does not include possible off-the-menu fees, delivery fee, and applicable tax. there is an additional $50 warm weather insulated packing fee for wedding cakes that are delivered outside of manhattan and brooklyn, ny in may-september.

q: how can i taste your cake flavors?

a: wedding cake tasting packages can be purchased online for pick-up at any of our nyc stores with 3 or more days notice, or they can be shipped directly to any u.s. address!

our wedding cake tasting package includes samples of each of the 8 cake flavors currently available on our menu. our cakes are cut into 1″x1″ two bite samples for you to enjoy. If you will be sampling with your wedding party we recommend ordering 1 box for every 2 people in the group.

q: can i choose a wedding cake with different flavors for each tier?

a: yes! you can choose 1-6 flavors depending on the size of your cake. you are the artist, you decide which flavors go in which tier.

q: do you offer delivery for wedding cakes?

a: We’re happy to quote you for delivery within the new york tristate area or washington dc area. Please provide us with a delivery address and we’ll send you a quote based on time/distance.
If that doesn’t meet your needs there is also the option to pick up your order at our Williamsburg kitchen address free of charge (382 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, NY) or we can provide a shipping quote (which would include the cost of shipping + shipping packing materials).

q: do you ship your wedding cakes out of state?

a: We ship our wedding cakes across the country, via UPS Next Day Air. The cake is insulated in a foam shipping box specifically for perishable goods, and packaged with ice packs and protective foil filling. In addition to the price of the cake, there is a $250 handling fee which covers the packaging and labor involved, as well as the overnight UPS shipping fee which is typically $100-$200 (exact price depends on numerous factors including distance, location, time, weight, and changing fuel costs).

q: will you cover my cake in frosting or fondant?

a: all of our wedding cakes are produced exactly the same way as they are for the bakery: naked, unfrosted sides which highlight all of the delicious fillings layered inside. we take pride in the unique look of our cakes and it breaks our heart when someone wants to cover them with frosting or fondant. sorry, but we do not offer this as an option.

Bake the Book Classes
q: What should I wear?

a: please wear comfortable, casual clothing and flat, comfortable shoes. please try to refrain from wearing open-toed shoes or sandals, as you will be baking in a FDA regulated production facility. You will be provided with a hair net and headscarf before entering our kitchen, if your hair is longer than your ears length, you must pull your hair back in a elastic band.

q: What if I have food allergies?

a: please inform us ahead of time if you have any severe food allergies. in our classes, we will be working with ingredients such as gluten, dairy, eggs, soy and nuts.

q: What is your cancellation policy for classes?

a: We prepare everything for the classes 48 hours before each class based on class size.

Standard Cancellation Policy
Cancellations up to 48 hours in advance will be refunded in full. We are also happy to re-book you in another currently available class with openings.

Last Minute Cancellation Policy
Cancellations within 48 hours of a class date will not be refunded unless a replacement is found to take your spot in the class. If you need to cancel within 48 hours’ notice, we will do our best to fill your spot by reaching out to our wait-list. If we are unable to fill your spot, you are also welcome to transfer your spot in class to a friend.

Milk Bar reserves the right to cancel in the event of chef illness of inclement weather. We will contact you by email or telephone and issue a full refund or transfer your registration to another class of your choice, depending on availability.

If you miss a class due to weather-related concerns, our standard cancellation policy applies.

q: I registered with a friend and they can no longer attend. Help!

a: With 48 hours’ notice: Standard cancellation policy applies.
We can cancel and refund just your friend’s spot, or both spots in the class. We are also happy to re-book you both in another currently available class with openings.
With less than 48 hours’ notice: Last minute cancellation policy applies.

Our Bakery
milk bar is an award-winning bakery from founder/CEO christina tosi. we have stores in nyc, dc and toronto, we also ship our sweet treats throughout the usa and canada!

the milk bar menu changes frequently and with the season. we source our ingredients from local, sustainable and/or responsible farmers as often as possible. there is no dress code at any of our locations, and you do not need a reservation to visit a milk bar bakery. all of our bakeries are wheelchair accessible.

q: do you sell gift cards?

a: yes. you can purchase a gift card online at momofuku.com or in person at any of our stores. gift cards can be used to make purchases at any milk bar or momofuku location. gift cards cannot be used for online purchases.

q: do you have parking?

a: there’s plenty of parking on the street or in parking garages near our locations.

q: do you have seating? can I reserve a table?

a: all of our locations are grab and go counter service bakeries. we do have limited seating if you would like to stay and enjoy your goodies, but no reservation is required. if you have a large group, we encourage you to visit our carroll gardens or upper west side locations in NYC or our washington DC location, as they have the most seating area.

q: where do your ingredients come from?

a: as often as possible, we source our ingredients from local farms that engage in sustainable practices.

q: what’s the story behind your milk?

a: our milk comes from natural By nature, an organic dairy collective based out of lancaster county, pennsylvania, that delivers and distributes independently. founded in 1994, they are proud to offer milk from grass-fed cows who have been raised with an eye towards holistic, organic practices. learn more about natural by nature here.
milk bar has always been dedicated to supporting local, organic dairy, but this year we’d like to take it EVEN further! starting january 2014, we are donating a portion of all of our dairy sales to support independent and family dairy farmers in need. we wouldn’t be where we are today without local, independent dairy, so help us support these very important members of the farming community!

Our Products
q: Where can I find the nutritional facts for your products?

a: Unfortunately, at this time we do not have calorie information or a nutritional breakdown available for our products. We’re happy to send along an ingredients list to help out if you have dietary concerns.

q: What is the shelf life your products?

a: Cakes, cake truffles and pies should be refrigerated, and will stay fresh for about 5-7 days in the fridge. They can also be stored in the freezer upon purchase for up to several weeks, if you would like to order ahead of time for an event. Our products freeze wonderfully. Cookies will stay fresh at room temperature for about 3-5 days, in the fridge for 1 week, and in the freezer for up to 1 month.

q: are any of your items nut-free?

a: items that contain nuts are marked on the menu and order page with an asterisk. all other items are nut-free, but are produced in a kitchen where nuts are present.

q: are any of your items vegan-friendly?

a: the coco in our klossie line of cookies (known in toronto as the maple pecan cookie) is delicious and vegan-friendly!

q: do you have any gluten-free baked goods?

a: our klossies are gluten free, dairy free, and sweetened without added sugar. we also periodically offer soft-serve ice cream flavors that are gluten-free. all of our other cookies, pies, cakes, and cake truffles contain gluten.

Cancellations, Returns & Refunds
q: how do i cancel my order?

a: all order can be cancelled up to 2 days before they are due to be picked up or shipped from our kitchen. please contact us at help[at]milkbarstore.com to request a cancellation.

q: I would like to return an item and/or be refunded

a: milk bar does not accept returns, offer exchanges, and/or grant refunds on any goods sold unless the issue for return, exchange, and/or refund is the result of an error in our manufacturing, packaging, or handling of the goods. we are not responsible for delays caused by UPS due to weather, mechanical error, strikes, natural disaster, terrorism safety control, inaccurate shipping information, or mistakes on the part of ups employees. therefore, we are not able to offer refunds for those reasons. however, if you believe that ups has mishandled your package please let us know and we will gladly file a claim with ups on your behalf.

q: why are certain flavors or items missing from your toronto menu? (klossies, breads, candy bar pie, etc)

a: milk bar toronto opened with a limited selection of milk bar favourites that we knew could make the trip from nyc without compromising quality or freshness. we are working to expand our offerings for the future, to bring even more of our fan favourites to the toronto menu. please check back for updates!

we are also able to ship any item that is not currently on the toronto menu directly to you from our nyc kitchen. please fill out a shipping request form here.

q: do you offer bake the book classes in toronto?

a: at this time our bake the book series of classes is only taught from our production kitchen in brooklyn, ny. however, we do occasionally schedule special event demos and classes at the toronto location. special events dates are posted on our facebook and twitter.

q: can I purchase a cake from your toronto shop?

a: Yes! We currently carry 6″ Birthday Cakes year round, available for walk in purchase. We carry additional seasonal flavors, please check our menu for current offerings. a: yes! gift cards can be purchased here. please note that gift cards purchased for the toronto momofuku restaurants cannot be used at the nyc or sydney momofuku restaurants.

a: we offer a special wheat free, vegan cookie just for our toronto store called the maple-pecan-coconut cookie.
