A STAR IS BORN
christina joins the momofuku family (her title was “etc.”) and becomes the first pastry chef for the restaurant group!
SOFT SERVE GOES LIVE
christina buys the first (of a cuss-ton!) of soft serve machines and sets it up at momofuku noodle bar.
CEREAL MILK IS INVENTED
christina concocts the first batch of cereal milk, which she turns into into a fancy dessert at momofuku ko that is an immediate hit with diners.
INTRODUCING: MILK BAR!
milk bar opens on november 15, 2008. from 6am-3am, we churn out compost cookies, crack pie, naked layer cakes and a whole lot more.
IT’S SPRINKLE TIME
we debut our famous birthday cake (after two years in the test kitchen) AND our classic b’day truffles.
fun fact: cake truffles started as a snack we made for ourselves from cake scraps, but they were so darn good that we added them to our official menu.
LET’S GET MARRIED!
we make and deliver milk bar’s first wedding cake to a very happy couple.
USA! USA! USA!
we start spreading the milk bar love nationwide! our storefront is bursting at the seams with boxes, ice packs and tape.
MOVING ON UP
we move our baking HQ from our tiny east village store to a 1,200 sq ft space in east harlem. christina doubles as our chauffeur and milk bar’s first delivery woman.
ANOTHER BUN IN THE OVEN
we open milk bar #2 in midtown manhattan in april!
NO SLEEP TILL BROOKLYN
we move across the river to our new home in williamsburg, an 11,000 sq ft kitchen, where we finally have space for double dutch competitions in the driveway when we’re done baking.
fun fact: we name all of our walk in refrigerators after celebrities and movie characters (Luke Sky Walk In!)
we name our first #hardbody of the month: our nickname for a milk bar employee who goes above and beyond the milk bar call of duty. It’s become one of our favorite company traditions.
C IS FOR COOKIE
we buy our first cookie scooping machine because our hands can’t keep up!
STORES ON STORES
we open stores #3 and #4 on the upper west side (june) and in williamsburg (september)!

THANKSGIVING IN A CROISSANT (YES, THAT’S RIGHT)
we create the thanksgiving croissant — turkey day dinner nestled in a stuffing-flavored croissant. miracles do happen!
fun fact: we bring the croissant back to our menu every november and make more than 15,000 each holiday season.
MOVIN’ AND GROOVIN’
we move our og east village store across the street, and open store #5 in carroll gardens, brooklyn. milk bar’s employee count reaches 100. our little family is gettin’ grown!

we launch baking mixes nationwide.

fun fact: our toronto store is self-serve, so you feel like a true kid in a candy shop.
CLASS IS IN SESSION
we start teaching milk bar baking classes in the kitchen after hours because the secrets to crack pie and bday cake are meant to be shared!
we buy our second big piece of machinery – a cookie packaging machine – so we can bake, cool, package, and sticker a mountain cookies in a single day!
